Bridge update 3 (I think!)

As I am sure that all of you are breathless waiting to see what is going on in the KC bridge saga..here is the latest update.

Apparently, I was unaware that the Kansas Dept of Transportation (KDOT) planned to close the I-635 bridge long before the Missour Dept of Transportation (MDOT) decided to close the Paseo (Missouri River Bridge).

On the local news last night it was announced that KDOT was going to go ahead with the closing of the I-635 bridge making it increasingly difficult for people from the Northland to get over the river and down south to work or play or whatever. The cost to delay the bridge closing would be $2 million.

Although I have my doubts that the bridge will be open in the promised 2 months the contractor who is working on the roads will be penalized if it is not open within that time frame. Perhaps I'll have to become even more of an early bird and come to work earlier.

You're probably asking yourself why I even care? Just go to work you say and quit worrying about the stupid bridges. Well, I am prone to being very angry in the car if I have to just sit there I just get more angry. I want to get where I am going without a lot of hassle. But I guess I'll just have to live with it..unless KDOT has a change of heart..which I doubt very much will happen.

Do you want me to give you a call when I leave for work (4:30am your time)?

I would be more than happy to help you out.

That's the beauty of working nights...I'm always driving against the rush hour traffic so it is smooth sailing for me.

Unless, of course, someone from Johnson county happens to wonder across the state line. Then, they just mess it up for everyone.
