11 years and counting

Today is the 11th anniversary of my kidney transplant. I would be very ungreatful if I didn't say Thank you to everyone who supported me during that time.

Thanks to my family and most especially to Liz who gave me the kidney to start with. They stood by me and were so sweet. Margaret was a great "nurse" and Ken was always on hand.

Thanks to my friends who came to see me and those who, even though they hated hospitals came anyway.

I'll never forget getting fake flowers from Jared and visits from Caroline and Shane when I was feeling particularly low. Liz made the trip out to the hospital when I was feeling bad. Seth came even though he had medical problems of his own. Sometimes I would wake up and Heather would be there after working her night shift. She would stay with me for a couple of hours and then go home.

I am truly blessed to have this second chance at life and I will be ever thankful for a sister who was unselfish enough to give me part of herself.

Yea! everyone should eat kidney beans today. And drink lots of water. Always, but especially today. And Everyone should pat your kidney for luck.

Drink some cranberry juice (it's good for your kidneys! Kidney? Either way...)in celebration! I'm so greatful that you're here and healthy and I just love your face off. The world would be a sad place without you in it.

And Liz? You are an awesome sister. Go both of you! Happy 11th year! Kisses! *MWAH!*

Thank you for poking your kidney for me...if I would have been near you I would have done it myself! I am glad that you had a good day. 11 years is quite an accomplishment.

Ahh, I remember those mornings. I'll have you know, I worked those extra shifts at Research just so I could see you in the morning. I remember the fake flowers. I remember waiting all day in the waiting room on the day of the surgery. Liz on Versed was especially entertaining.

Yay for 11 years of clear, yellow urine!! Here's to many more to come!
